Last of the Peonies

My mother loved peonies, but suffered when summer storms flattened the bushes. I never had a peony bush. Perhaps the memory prevented me. I get myself an arrangement of seasonal flowers from Bakman Floral Design in South Lyon each week, and I took home the last of this season’s peonies. Half a day from tight bud to full blossom. Reminder to appreciate beauty in the moment. Leave the suffering alone.
