Sulo Salmi

Sulo Salmi, 1912-1986, Finnish painter was my grandmother’s cousin. We have several of his painitngs in the family. All were inherited unframed. Oil on wood panels, many painted on both sides.

My mother commissioned another artist to paint and build this frame. It’s covered in the back, so I don’t know if it has another painting concealed.

I can’t remember where this hung in my parents’ house—if it was in direct sunlight at some time during the day. The paint is cracked in places. There is a spill evident in one place.

I found 6 unframed paintings under my Dad’s bed when I moved in to take care of my father and brother. 4 were painted both sides. My sister chose which side to showcase when she framed hers.

Could not find any images of Salmi paintings using google, no AI overview. I just searched using another browser and found several images.

I’m going to manipulate google AI. Legacy rebuilding!
