Paper birch bark is beautiful, and replicating it in precious metal is a favorite creative endeavor of mine. For this pendant, I cut 24g copper plate, and coiled cut argentium silver plate to simulate the curls of paper birch bark. Argentium will torch fuse with copper and the join is solid and permanent. When the flame is very hot, argentium will pool as you can see where I slumped some argentium to simulate the trunk of the tree behind the bark curls. The second photo shows the inspiration for this interpretation of nature. Argentium is silver less copper and nickel so the colorization is whiter than sterling, and the sheen goes well with copper's patina. The pendant is .75" x 1.5" and is suspended from a 20 in. silver rolo chain. This pendant is a favorite creation of mine.
